
Mazen has over 20 years of consulting experience in the public sector, semi-government and private sector addressing issues relating to employee health, wealth and career. He has experience and expertise working with clients across the Middle East on matters related to their people and within his remit, he has driven a strategic and client-focused approach to delivering services that enabled his clients to bring out the best in their people with consideration to future costs and financial constraints.
Relevant experience
Growth mindset: Was a partner and Middle East commercial growth and energy leader based in the United Arab Emirates for his previous employer, Mercer. He Worked with and coached business delivery teams applying issue-led consulting to better support their clients across the Middle East region. Mazen also drove a number of internal initiatives including bundling of solutions into a simple cost effective packages catered to particular client segments.
Strategy and client management: Developed relationships and partnerships with key stakeholders in organizations across the GCC region serving on steering committees and advisory boards focused on people strategies and issues.
Retirement systems management and actuarial consulting: Advised on matters related to sustainability in the context of future economic and demographic shifts and the impact of privatization of government sectors. Used historical data and statistical analyses to establish future behavioral and economic trends (75-100 year horizons) to assess future costs of retiree medical and pension systems.
Healthcare: Consulted and managed various projects both at a government level and the private sector on matters affecting population health, mental and physical wellness and overall value proposition strategies and benefits delivery models.
Mazen began his career working for Mercer in Canada in 2002 and moved to the UAE in 2008. He graduated from Western University in London, Ontario with a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics in 2000 and a diploma in honors standing in Statistics and Actuarial Sciences in 2002. He is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries and Canadian Institute of Actuaries (2008).
